It was built with the desire to promote a coffee culture of the highest quality.

Luis Fernando Vélez stumbled upon the world of coffee by chance. Paradoxically, it was on a trip to London that he learned how to brew a good cup of coffee. In 1992, he visited England to attend a flower show, his business at the time. Through this experience and by mere coincidence, his close friend Alejandro Rengifo showed him how to prepare coffee using a French press. Upon his return to Bogotá, Luis Fernando brought back some of these coffee makers with the aim of offering good coffee to the customers of what was then a small gift shop called Amor Perfeito. The place became a benchmark for drinking good coffee in Bogotá, and people came in search of it. Luis Fernando saw the business opportunity and decided to set up a café inside the gift shop, which later disappeared due to the success of the café.

Luis Fernando Vélez, fundador de Amor Perfecto, en los inicios de la marca. Pioneros del café de especialidad en Colombia y cultura cafetera.

In an insatiable search centered on coffee, Luis Fernando began visiting international trade fairs. In 2003, he participated in the World Barista Championship, thus becoming the first Colombian to represent the country in an international coffee competition. The barista, being the final link and the last point of contact with the consumer, is responsible for either elevating or ruining the work of everyone who preceded them in the process. Understanding this, Luis Fernando introduced this profession to Colombia, where it was previously unknown, decided to become certified as a barista trainer by the SCAE (Specialty Coffee Association of Europe), and began a process of training baristas in the country.

In 2006, under the initiative and development of Amor Perfecto, the first national coffee championships were held in Colombia. In 2011, thanks to the efforts of Amor Perfecto, Bogotá became the host city for the World Barista Championship, marking the first time an event of this magnitude was organized in a producing country. Once the championships were established and consolidated, Amor Perfecto delegated the role of coordinating and producing the events to the National Federation of Coffee Growers. In 2021, we succeeded in crowning Diego Campos—an Amor Perfecto barista—as the first Colombian World Champion at the World Barista Championship.

Amor Perfecto continues to be a pioneer in the specialty coffee industry. Our company's goal is for Colombians to have not only the privilege of drinking good coffee but also the sense of pride and empowerment that comes from our flagship product. The challenge now is to offer the world the opportunity to drink coffee roasted at origin and to savor the best of Colombia. Since 2013, when we first exported our coffee, we have been driven to establish the concept of "Roasted at Origin" on a global scale.

At Amor Perfecto, we select coffees that tell stories.

Each bean comes from exceptional farms, the result of direct relationships with coffee growers like Astrid Medina, Elías Roa, and our world champion, Diego Campos. This deep connection to the origin allows us to offer a vibrant and constantly evolving collection, where excellence is cultivated at every stage of the process.

Our selection is dynamic and alive, the fruit of constant participation in national auctions and competitions, which allows us to discover hidden gems from Nariño to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, traversing the eleven degrees of latitude that make Colombia a coffee paradise unique in the world.

Our work consists of exploring every corner of the country to discover unique coffees.
